Where to Stay in St. Lucia on a Budget
One of the easiest ways to save money on a St. Lucia vacation is to avoid staying at one of the island’s luxury resorts. Before booking your St. Lucia vacation, be sure to check out resorts, Airbnbs, and other types of accommodations in the area you’re looking to stay to find the most budget-friendly option for you!
There are low- to mid-range resorts and accommodations that can make for an affordable trip to St. Lucia. You don’t have to stay at a five-star St. Lucia resort to have an unforgettable vacation. Here are some suggestions:
Rodney Bay — As one of the most popular places to stay in St. Lucia, Rodney Bay offers Reduit Beach, a wide range of shops, restaurants, and more. While many of the resorts in Rodney Bay are luxury, there are budget-friendly St. Lucia resorts and accommodations in the area. Some to take into consideration include:
- Bay Gardens Beach Resort & Spa — With its location on Reduit Beach, this is perfect for anyone looking for a traditional St. Lucia resort experience. Featuring swimming pools, dining, a spa, and access to Splash Water Island Water Park, this Rodney Bay resort comes at a lower price tag than other luxury resorts in the area. Book here!
- Coco Palm Resort — This St. Lucia boutique resort is within walking distance of both Reduit Beach and the Rodney Bay Marina. The convenient location allows you to avoid transportation costs, making it easier to visit St. Lucia on a budget. Book here!
- Bay Gardens Marina Haven — Situated near the Rodney Bay Marina, this St. Lucia hotel features a hotel pool and gives you access to the Bay Gardens Beach Club at the beachfront resort. There’s also a complimentary shuttle. Book here!

Soufrière — This is a popular place to stay in St. Lucia for travelers who want to be near the iconic Pitons, beaches, and other south St. Lucia excursions. Although the area is home to some of the most expensive St. Lucia luxury resorts, there are budget-friendly options as well. Some options include:
- Fond Doux Eco Resort — This historic, 19th-century eco-resort is situated on a 250-year-old working cocoa plantation! Featuring Caribbean cottages, this resort has private pools. It’s a great place to stay for a luxurious and budget-friendly trip to St. Lucia. Book here!
- La Haut Resort — If you’ve always dreamed of a St. Lucia vacation with Piton views, this mid-range resort is a great place to stay. Known for its breathtaking views from its location on a cocoa plantation, La Haut Resort also offers two infinity pools. Book here!
- The Still Beach House — If you’re looking for an affordable beachfront resort in south St. Lucia, this resort is a budget-friendly pick. The Still Beach House is situated directly on Hummingbird Beach and located close to nearby attractions, such as Anse Chastanet and Diamond Falls & Botanical Gardens. Book here!
I personally recommend allocating more of your budget to your St. Lucia resort when planning a trip to St. Lucia on a budget. The right resort will come with great amenities, such as beach access and pools. This can be a great way to reduce costs on the rest of your vacation.

Eating in St. Lucia on a Budget
If you’re a foodie, food can be one of the highlights of a trip to St. Lucia. From authentic Caribbean cuisine and seafood to international dishes, there’s something to satisfy every traveler! But how do you enjoy food on the island if you’re trying to save money in St. Lucia? Here are some ideas:
- Try local food in St. Lucia. You’ll find casual restaurants, food stalls, bakeries, market stands, and small neighborhood eateries serving affordable cuisine.
- Go to the Gros Islet Street Party on Friday night. Not only is this an inexpensive St. Lucia activity, but you’ll find plenty of street food at a low cost. From seafood to barbecue, it’s a great way to taste some authentic Caribbean food!
- Visit the local markets or grocery stores. Preparing your own food for at least some meals during your trip is a great way to save money during your St. Lucia vacation.
Although you might enjoy some of your meals at your resort, choosing these alternatives for at least some of your meals can help you reduce your overall St. Lucia vacation costs.

How to Explore St. Lucia on a Budget
There are so many things to do in St. Lucia for free or at a low cost, which makes it so easy to visit the island on a budget! Here are some of my favorite free or inexpensive St. Lucia activities:
- Spend the day at the beach. Swimming, lounging on the sand, or enjoying water sports can be a low-cost way to spend the day. With so many great St. Lucia beaches to choose from, this can be a great way to make your trip budget-friendly.
- See the Pitons or check them out at a viewpoint. The Tet Paul Nature Trail is one of my favorite St. Lucia hiking trails for great Pitons views. Read about it here!
- Check out the Sulphur Springs & Mud Baths. As the Caribbean’s only drive-in volcano, this is one of the most popular things to do in St. Lucia! It’s a cheap activity to add to your itinerary if you’re looking for ways to reduce your St. Lucia vacation costs.
- Head to Pigeon Island National Landmark. Featuring beaches, hiking trails, and historic military ruins, this is a must-visit! Although there is an entrance fee, it’s still a great budget-friendly activity.
- Visit the New Jerusalem Mineral Baths. This is one of my favorite low-cost St. Lucia attractions. Learn more about it here!
From beach days and pool days to hiking, there are plenty of things to see and do on the island if you’re doing St. Lucia on a budget!
