North St. Lucia and south St. Lucia offer two completely different experiences. While they might not be that far apart from one another, it can feel like a completely different world. One option that you might not have considered is splitting your time between the regions.

North St. Lucia vs. South St. Lucia: Which is Better For a Honeymoon? 

Before you decide whether you want to stay in north St. Lucia or south St. Lucia (or both), it’s important to understand the difference between the two regions. Depending on the type of honeymoon you’re planning, the north or the south might be a clear choice for you. 

Accommodations for Your St. Lucia Honeymoon 

When it comes to accommodations, there are a few factors to take into consideration before booking your honeymoon. 

If you’re looking for budget-friendly St. Lucia resorts, you’ll be more likely to find affordable accommodations in the north. In the south, you’ll find once-in-a-lifetime resorts and iconic St. Lucia honeymoon resorts, which have some of the most breathtaking views of the Pitons — but come with a higher price tag.

If you want to stay at a beachfront St. Lucia resort, the north is a likely better fit for you. The Rodney Bay area offers a number of beachfront hotels and resorts to choose from, making it a better option for anyone looking for a beachfront honeymoon resort in St. Lucia. 

North vs. South St. Lucia: Which Offers More to Do On Your Honeymoon? 

If you’re trying to decide which region offers the best things to do in St. Lucia for couples, the answer is simple: both areas offer something unforgettable.

What to Do in North St. Lucia For Your Honeymoon

North St. Lucia is more ideal for couples who want a St. Lucia honeymoon that offers convenience, beautiful beaches, waterfront dining, and a relaxed vibe. 

In north St. Lucia, you’ll find some of the best beaches on the island. Reduit Beach is a popular spot for swimming and watersports, and one of the most popular St. Lucia attractions. Pigeon Island National Park is one of the most popular places for St. Lucia snorkeling excursions, making it a perfect spot to visit for the adventurous couple. 

In the north, you’ll also find shopping and great St. Lucia restaurants and bars. Rodney Bay Marinara is a great place to enjoy waterfront dining. You can have dinner and drinks overlooking the yachts! Many of the St. Lucia resorts in the north also offer romantic beachfront dining experiences. If you want to get a taste of St. Lucia nightlife, the Gros Islet Friday Night Street Party is a great place to experience it.

One of my favorite excursions on the island and one of the romantic things to do in St. Lucia is taking a catamaran sunset cruise! A St. Lucia sunset cruise is a great way to experience breathtaking views, try some of the island’s famous rum punch, and enjoy some Caribbean music and dancing with your significant other. It’s truly an unforgettable experience that I would recommend for anyone who’s enjoying their honeymoon in St. Lucia.  

What to Do in South St. Lucia For Your Honeymoon

If you’re a couple who loves nature and adventuring, south St. Lucia is perfect for your St. Lucia honeymoon! 

In the south of the island, you’ll find some of the most adventurous St. Lucia honeymoon activities. You might consider hiking the Pitons or Tet Paul Nature Trail (a less strenuous hike that offers incredible Pitons views). Or maybe you’d enjoy soaring through the rainforest during a St. Lucia ziplining experience. Anse Chastanet is considered one of the best places for a St. Lucia snorkeling adventure. 

If you want to enjoy a more relaxing activity, you can take a mud bath at Sulphur Springs or enjoy the New Jerusalem Mineral Baths. These are two of the most romantic things to do in St. Lucia! Sulphur Springs is one of the island’s top attractions because it’s the only drive-in volcano in the world, but I actually prefer New Jerusalem because it’s less crowded and off the beaten path. Both of these are a must-add to your St. Lucia honeymoon itinerary!

Toraille Waterfalls and Diamond Falls are both pretty St. Lucia attractions. I personally love Diamond Falls, which is nestled within the lush botanical gardens!

One of the most romantic restaurants in St. Lucia is located in the south. Dasheene Restaurant at Ladera Resort offers stunning views of the Pitons. This is one of my favorite St. Lucia restaurants. I highly suggest dining at Dasheene at some point during your honeymoon in St. Lucia. 

Why You Should Consider a Split Stay For Your St. Lucia Honeymoon

I highly recommend that couples consider a split stay for their honeymoon. This allows you to enjoy the best of both worlds. While north St. Lucia can be a great place to relax and offers the benefit of being conveniently located to shops, restaurants, and more, the south of the island has so much to offer couples who plan to honeymoon in St. Lucia.

Although you could travel from the north to the south during your trip, Rodney Bay and Soufrière (the most popular cities in the north and south) are approximately 90 minutes away by car. This travel time can really cut into your St. Lucia vacation. Staying in the north and the south for a few days each is a great way to enjoy some of the top St. Lucia attractions in both regions.

South St. Lucia Resorts
