I recently had the opportunity to stay at Cocobay and had an amazing experience! From its incredible infinity pools to its epic sunsets, Cocobay Resort Antigua is one of the best places to stay in Antigua! I’m going to tell you about my experience staying at this resort and why I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants a laid-back, luxurious Caribbean escape! 

Arriving in Paradise: Getting to Cocobay Resort Antigua

Getting to Cocobay Resort Hotel in Antigua is easy. You can arrange for an airport transfer through the resort, book a private driver on Viator, or rent a car (but if you do, keep in mind that you’ll be driving on the left side of the road). No matter how you choose to get to this Antigua resort, you’ll begin to feel at home right away!

From the moment I set foot on the property, I knew that the warmth of the staff was going to be a big part of why this is one of the most memorable places to stay in Antigua! When you enter the property, the security team greets you, introduces themselves, and lets you know it’s a 24/7 secured property. They let me know I could come to them if I needed assistance with anything. As a solo traveler, I instantly felt at ease and set the tone for the rest of my stay. I immediately felt cared for.

As soon as you enter the circular gravel driveway, you’ll see the reception building, which houses the lobby. This all-inclusive resort in Antigua feels like you’ve stepped into an upscale, rustic-chic, and boho resort. The floor-to-ceiling glass windows feature an open terrace for additional seating and give off a tropical vibe.

The reception and front desk staff at Cocobay Resort Antigua were so welcoming, kind, and accommodating. I received a welcome drink — a delicious lemongrass cocktail — as they squared away my luggage and checked in on my room availability. They even escorted me to lunch! 

One of my favorite things about staying at Cocobay Resort is that they took my WhatsApp number to check in with me throughout my stay and to assist me with booking excursions, amenities, and reservations. This personalized service at this adults-only resort in Antigua makes it feel so much more intimate and warm than a large-scale Caribbean resort. And if I’m being honest, the front desk staff were a huge part of what made my stay so memorable!

Getting Around Cocobay Resort

After lunch, I was escorted to my cottage. One of the things I liked most about this Antigua resort is how easy it is to navigate! The photos were a bit deceiving: while there are hills on the property, it does not feel like you’re doing a lot of steep climbing!

If you’re wondering where to stay in Antigua for walkability, Cocobay is a great option. One of my favorite things about this resort is that it’s very walkable, and for the most part, it’s relatively flat. You don’t need shuttles to be transported across the resort, and there are no steep hills to climb in order to go to and from your room. The cottages are connected by pathways, which are lit up at night (this is so magical, to me, honestly)! Everything you need, you can walk to within a few minutes.

My Experience: During my stay at Cocobay Resort Antigua, I stayed in both a Premium Pool Suite and the Azure Waterfront Pool Suite. I found both of these suites at this Antigua resort to be absolutely incredible! My Premium Pool Suite was only a few minutes from the lobby area and had two French doors — both opening up to the deck. The views were stunning, and it felt so incredibly intimate. The Azure Waterfront Pool Suite was located directly behind the lobby area and featured a window that opened up from the bathroom — revealing stunning views. The deck was the perfect place to relax and enjoy the bay activities. Both rooms had a very luxurious feel with private plunge pools. Honestly, I could have spent all my time at the resort!

It’s intentionally “unplugged,” giving you the chance to truly slow down and enjoy your stay. Some of the ways Cocobay has created relaxation include:

These cottages and the atmosphere really allow for that!

While this is an open-air Antigua resort, there are a few luxuries that not all open-air resorts in the Caribbean offer: mosquito netting to keep the bugs out, and air conditioning so you can stay cool!

One of the things I love about this all-inclusive resort in Antigua is that it offers boutique-style dining rather than huge buffet-style resort dining. The restaurants at Cocobay offer a mix of Caribbean cuisine and international dishes.

There’s a big emphasis on à la carte meals. Since Cocobay is a smaller Antigua resort, there are fewer restaurants to choose from than a mega-resort — but you’ll find a more intimate and curated dining experience. It’s truly a huge factor in why Cocobay is one of the top places to stay in Antigua if you’re looking for an all-inclusive resort. Every morning at breakfast, you select your time for lunch and dinner. The menus change every day, and you will get to see the day’s menu options at breakfast. If you have any dietary requirements, you let the staff know, and they will work with you to ensure that they have menu options for you.

During my stay at Cocobay Resort Antigua, I tried so many new foods I’ve never had before, and it was all so delicious! I tend to be a picky eater, so this says a lot! It really expanded my palate. I also found the portion sizes to be good and often left feeling stuffed.

Rafters Restaurant & Bar

This is the main all-inclusive restaurant at this Antigua resort. Featuring an open-air design, you’ll find gorgeous sea views here!

Rafters serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Meals are served à la carte style, with special meals available upon request. You’ll find international cuisine and Caribbean flair.

The Bar & Lounge at Rafters has a covered terrace. It offers top-shelf liquors, cocktails, and beer on tap. The daily Bar Bite specials make great afternoon snacks. You’ll find live entertainment here 5-6 nights a week.

I spent a lot of time at Rafters during my stay at Cocobay Resort Antigua. The bartenders were so nice and so much fun! I spent a few of my nights just chatting with them and trying new drinks. They’re so great at creating custom drinks based on your vibe and taste buds!

The Cliffside

The Cliffside offers one of the most romantic dining options, making Cocobay a standout option for couples looking for one of the most memorable places to stay in Antigua for a romantic getaway or honeymoon. Set on a cliffside overlooking the water, this restaurant offers fresh ingredients and Caribbean flavors. I enjoyed several of my lunches here, and the views (and food) were incredible! It easily became my favorite place to dine at Cocobay! The Cliffside Deck, Cabanas, and Plunge Pools are perfect for anyone looking for a romantic Antigua honeymoon resort experience.

When staying at this all-inclusive resort in Antigua, keep in mind that some access to the Cliffside is tied to your room tier. Starfish guests enjoy exclusive access, while Silver Sand guests receive priority access, Cabana experiences, and premium offerings. 

Sandy Ground Sunset Pool Beach Bar

Overlooking the infinity pool and Little Ffryes area, you’ll find the all-inclusive Sunset Pool Dining Deck and Beach Bar. You can enjoy lunch at this bar without having to leave the pool area! The area faces the sunset, making it the perfect spot to enjoy gorgeous views at this Antigua honeymoon resort. You’ll find daybeds, loungers, and delicious cocktails here! They offer paninis and, on Tuesdays and Thursdays, they have a BBQ for lunch, which is a real treat! 

Cocoa Coffee Café & Gift Shop

This cafe is a perfect place to grab your morning coffee! It also offers treats and snacks, as well as a gift shop. There is seating in front of the cafe and on the terrace. Offering both hot coffee and iced coffee options, this cafe is perfect for any time during your stay at Cocobay. It’s also a good place to grab souvenirs during your Antigua vacation!

Little Ffryes Beach, which is located directly beside Cocobay, is a small, intimate beach. Located near the infinity pool, this beach features turquoise water and crushed seashell sand. I loved this beach because it’s located near Sandy Ground bar and there are lounge chairs here. 

Valley Church Beach, which features pale white sand, turquoise Caribbean water, and a wider beach feel. Although this is another public Antigua beach, it’s conveniently located to the resort (just a 5-minute walk outside of Cocobay Resort Antigua!)

Keep in mind that all Antigua beaches are open to the public!
