Cocobay Resort vs. The Escape at Nonsuch Bay: Which Antigua Resort Is Right for You?

If you’re looking for the best Antigua honeymoon resorts, you’ll probably come across Cocobay Resort and The Escape at Nonsuch Bay. How do you know which one is right for you?

Both of these are adults-only, all-inclusive resorts designed with couples in mind, but the experience at these two resorts couldn’t be any different! As someone who had the opportunity to stay at both of these Antigua resorts recently, I’ve created a guide to help you determine which better suits your travel style! Here are some things to keep in mind before trying to decide which of these resorts in Antigua is the best fit for you!

The Atmosphere at Cocobay Resort vs. The Escape at Nonsuch Bay

When you set foot on both of these properties, there’s instantly a very different feel in the resort design and atmosphere.

Cocobay Resort features colorful Caribbean cottages and incredible west coast views. Overlooking Fryes Bay, this resort has a very romantic vibe. Although there’s only occasional entertainment here, the atmosphere at this Antigua honeymoon resort is a bit lively — but also very peaceful.

The Escape at Nonsuch Bay is a lot more secluded and intimate. It’s tucked among trees and mangroves overlooking Ayers Creek, and it was designed with privacy, relaxation, and romance in mind. This adults-only Antigua resort is known for its private plunge pools, which are where most of its guests spend the majority of their stay.

Beaches at Cocobay Resort vs. The Escape at Nonsuch Bay

If you want to stay at an Antigua resort with a beach that’s easier to access, Cocobay Resort is the better option. Little Ffryes Beach is located adjacent to the hotel, and it offers loungers for guests. You can also easily access Valley Church Beach with a 5-minute walk outside of the resort. It’s not far if you want a second option!

The Escape at Nonsuch Bay does not have direct beach access. When you stay at this Antigua honeymoon resort, you’ll need to take a short walk (with a descent) or (ideally) a shuttle ride.

If you want to stay at a resort in Antigua with direct beach access, Cocobay Resort is the better option!

The Amenities at Cocobay Resort vs. The Escape at Nonsuch Bay

Both of these Antigua resorts offer very luxurious amenities!

Many of the cottages at Cocobay Resort offer private balconies with hammocks and sea views. Some of the upgraded suites at this resort also feature private plunge pools and outdoor soaking tubs. I was fortunate to stay in two of their upgraded suites. If you’re looking for an Antigua luxury resort, Cocobay’s amenities in these suites offer a very high-end feel.

One of the main benefits of staying at The Escape at Nonsuch Bay is the private plunge pool. Every suite at this Antigua honeymoon resort features a private plunge pool. This is really what makes this resort stand out. These suites have a very luxurious feel as well!

Both of these Antigua resorts offer communal pools as well. Cocobay Resort has four pools for guests to use, while The Escape at Nonsuch Bay offers one main pool.

Dining at Cocobay Resort vs. The Escape at Nonsuch Bay

While these are both all-inclusive Antigua resorts, the dining experiences you will have at them are very different.

At Cocobay Resort, you will find boutique-style dining with an emphasis on a la carte meals. The experience is intimate and curated. The menu changes daily, and you will get to see options for lunch and dinner, as well as breakfast.

At this resort in Antigua, you’ll find Rafters Restaurant & Bar. This is the main all-inclusive restaurant at this resort. The Cliffside is another on-site restaurant. Situated on a cliffside, this restaurant is a more romantic dining option. Cocobay also offers Sandy Ground Sunset Pool Beach Bar, an all-inclusive bar where you can enjoy lunch and cocktails without ever leaving the pool! Cocoa Coffee Cafe offers both hot and iced coffee options.

While Nonsuch Bay also offers a curated all-inclusive dining option, there’s only one all-inclusive restaurant (The Drift Restaurant & Bar). There’s also the Sea Grape Beach Bar, which offers paninis, light bites, and snacks.

If you’re a foodie who’s looking for an Antigua resort that offers a wider variety of options, I highly suggest staying at Cocobay Resort rather than The Escape at Nonsuch Bay.

Things to Do at Cocobay Resort vs. The Escape at Nonsuch Bay

When deciding between these Antigua honeymoon resorts, one factor to consider is things to do on-site.

If you want a wider variety of activities to choose from, Cocobay Resort is the better option. The resort offers complimentary watersports, including snorkeling, paddleboarding, and kayaking. There are guided nature walks, yoga, and fitness on property. You can book a sunset champagne sailing experience or Hobie Cat tour around the nearby bays. Cocobay offers occasional nighttime entertainment.

Less activities are offered at The Escape at Nonsuch Bay. Guests who stay at this Antigua resort spend the majority of their time in their suites, enjoying their private plunge pools. When you stay at The Escape, your trip will be more laid-back and relaxing. This resort doesn’t offer entertainment.

Which Antigua Honeymoon Resort Is Right for You?

When it comes to Cocobay Resort vs. The Escape at Nonsuch Bay, it really depends on what you’re looking for from your trip to Antigua!

For couples looking for a classic Caribbean honeymoon experience, Cocobay Resort is a great choice! This Antigua resort offers beautiful views, high-end amenities, and beach access. Cocobay also offers so many things to do without leaving the resort.

If you’re looking to take an Antigua honeymoon or romantic getaway that’s centered around a resort that offers a private, intimate feel with private plunge pools, The Escape at Nonsuch Bay is an ideal option! This resort is perfect for anyone looking for a truly laid-back, relaxing trip to Antigua.

If I could only choose one of these places to stay in Antigua, I would absolutely choose Cocobay Resort. That being said, I highlyyyy recommend staying at The Escape at Nonsuch Bay for two nights when you first arrive in Antigua or before you return home. It’s a nice reset if you want a relaxing place to stay before your Antigua vacation really begins or if you’re looking for somewhere to unwind before you go back to reality!
